Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga offers classes where you can find balance of your body mind and spirit.

They are already popular in classes in local village halls.

I aim to put together small classes  where the atmosphere is friendly and supportive. You will meet like-minded friends to encourage you on your journey.

We will all gain benefits but have different starting points.

We work slowly and mindfully moving our joints through the Pawanmutasana , the Joint freeing series easing our body ready for the various yoga asanas or postures

Modifications may be suggested and you work at your own level.

We shall chant mantras and improve our breathing through a programme of stages.

Approach your first lesson with an open mind. This is the only prerequisite.

Pranayama is a key part of the gentle yoga lesson programme. Students will learn different breathing practices that focus on improving their lung function and ways to move energy around the body.

"Most of us are unaware of the fact that the loss of energy / prana we often feel in our body is mostly due to incorrect breathing" -

The benefits

  • Improved health & vitality
  • Slower heart rate
  • Lower Blood Pressure
  • Improved blood circulation
  • better mental health

The benefits of yoga breathing can be realised only by experience.

Marilyn has completed the BWY Pranayama Course with Philip Xerri, a highly regarded expert in the subject. Philip was trained by Dr Swami Gitanda.

In gentle yoga classes mantras are used with the yoga postures. Mantras are the 'Soul of Yoga Tradition' and have been central to healing in India for thousands of years.

Mantras have many benefits, including:

  • Increase in Concentration
  • Enhanced Creativity
  • Maintaining a healthy Body and Mind

Chanting of Mantras produces:

  • natural painkillers
  • lowers the heart rate
  • reduces blood pressure
